Turkey recorded an increase in property sales in February 2026: official statistics from TÜİK

According to fresh data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released on 13 March 2026, 124,549 residential properties were sold in the country in February this year. Compared to February of the previous year, when sales stood at 117,586 units, there was a 5.9 per cent increase.

The breakdown by housing type is as follows: 37,785 new-build properties were sold, up 5.9 per cent on last year's level, while 86,764 secondary market properties were sold, with an increase of 6 per cent. Accordingly, the primary segment occupied 30.3 per cent of the total market, and the secondary segment - 69.7 per cent.

Particular attention is drawn to the dynamics of mortgage sales: they jumped by 42.3 per cent and reached the mark of 25,035 transactions. This indicates an increased demand for credit financing among buyers. At the same time, conventional unbanked sales fell 0.5 per cent to 99,514 units.

In the first two months of 2026, the total volume of real estate transactions in Turkey reached 236,029 properties, showing an increase of 0.6 per cent relative to the same period in 2025.

At the same time, sales to foreign citizens slightly decreased: in February, foreigners purchased 1,506 housing units, which is 2.9 per cent less than a year ago. Their share in the total number of sales was 1.2 per cent. Among foreigners Russians are leading with 191 purchases.

Such indicators allow us to talk about the gradual revival of the Turkish housing market due to favourable credit conditions and economic stability. Many experts predict that the positive trend will continue in the near future, which may attract even more investors.
