Turkey's territory is seismically unstable, which has a direct impact on architectural development requirements. Here are a few things to look for when house-hunting:
- The construction date. Buildings built since 2018 must comply with the updated Decree on the Safety of Construction Work.
- Building must be licensed.
- The building's seismic resistance certificate should be available.
In terms of recent events, it is unclear what additional measures the authorities will take to strengthen structural stability. However, there is no doubt that this path requires an integrated approach.
