Number of foreigners granted residence permits in Turkey in 2023 revealed

In 2023, Turkey registered 1,107,032 foreigners who received residence permits in the country. This number is 250,000 less than in 2022. Citizens of Turkmenistan lead the list of nationalities, displacing Russians from their previous leading positions. In 2023, citizens of Turkmenistan received 109,039 residence permits, followed by Russians with 100,847 permits. Among the factors contributing to the departure of foreign citizens are rising prices and the international geopolitical situation, including sanctions against Russia.
