Mahmutlar to get a recreation area: contractor chosen, work to take 100 days

The landscaping of the Yar Deresi stream in Mahmutlar had been discussed for several years — the project now has a contractor. The tender was held on 7 August and the contract was signed on the 27th. Osman Tarık Özçelik, Mayor of Alanya, announced this on 1 September at a meeting of the municipal council. The site still has to be handed over to the builders, after which the contract allows 100 days for the work.

Almost one and a half hectares, 14,926 m² along the streambed, will be developed into a recreation area. The plot runs inland from the D-400 highway, and wide pavements and walking paths will be laid along it. There will be a café of 105 m², basketball and tennis courts, exercise machines, a climbing wall, an obstacle course and three table tennis tables. For relaxation there will be swings, gazebos and benches.

The community centre in Mahmutlar is due to be handed over by the end of September, and Atatürk Street has already been resurfaced after the water mains were replaced. The neighbourhood is densely built up and has always lacked places to walk. Anyone looking at a flat here should take note: housing next to a landscaped area is easier to let and to resell.
