Alanya has been awarded 79 Blue Flags and a prize for environmental education

The Turkish resort of Alanya has officially confirmed its high environmental status. Following inspections during the 2026 season, the municipality received 79 international ‘Blue Flag’ certificates. These include 6 public beaches, 68 beaches at hotels and resorts, 4 tourist vessels and 1 marina.

The ‘Blue Flag’ award, presented by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in coordination with the Turkish organisation TÜRÇEV, requires strict compliance with criteria including water quality, effective waste management, visitor safety, accessibility for people with disabilities, and active environmental initiatives. Alanya has successfully passed all stages of inspection, cementing its reputation as one of the cleanest destinations in the Mediterranean.

In addition, Alanya Municipality has been awarded a special prize for its contribution to environmental education and awareness. As part of the ‘2025 Award for Best Environmental Education and Awareness-Raising Activities’, the city has been recognised as one of the best in Turkey for the sixth consecutive year. The jury highly commended projects for children and young people, coastal clean-up initiatives, waste recycling programmes and campaigns to foster environmental awareness.

These achievements underscore the local authorities’ consistent policy on sustainable tourism development. Clean shores, clear waters and a responsible approach attract travellers for whom not only comfort but also care for the environment is important. Alanya continues to set the standard for other regions in Turkey, combining a rich historical heritage with modern environmental practices.
