Building materials in Turkey have started to become cheaper: what will happen to real estate prices?

Turkish construction media report that the Trump-led US administrative duties imposed on Mexico, Canada and China have had an unexpected beneficial effect on the prices of some materials. For example, the cost of iron and rebar fell by 5%. Experts in Turkey's construction industry say that the downward trend in iron prices will continue. For illustration, just 10 days ago the price of a ton of metal in Istanbul was 29,000 Turkish Liras (TL), and now it has dropped to 28,700 TL.

For a long time, Turkey has been discussing the importance of ensuring balanced prices for basic building materials, which can be achieved through government subsidies. However, this idea has not found practical realization. Given that the inflation rate in the country remains high, there is no hope that real estate prices will decrease due to the cheapening of fittings alone.
