The rules for getting a residence permit in Turkey are changing

Turkey is launching an electronic appointment and tracking system for residence permit applications.

It is scheduled to be launched on 24 June 2024. The main purpose of introducing the system is to streamline and securely store data on foreigners.

From a practical point of view, the introduction of GRS will bring several significant benefits:

  • When re-submitting an application (e.g. when extending a residence permit or making changes), it will not be necessary to re-enter all the data and to send back lost documents.
  • The risk of losing documents will be significantly reduced.
  • All data, including the history of applications and stages of application processing, will be easily accessible.

It is important to note that with the transition to electronic dossiers, control over compliance with the law will be strengthened. Whereas previously paper documents may not have been checked due to human error, now all information will be immediately available and subject to strict verification.
