Since May 5, 2022, foreign nationals wishing to obtain a residence permit by purchasing housing are required to buy a property no cheaper than:
- $75,000 if it is located in one of the country’s 30 major population centers;
- $50,000 if it is located in small settlements.
The first group includes Antalya, Izmir, Mersin, Mugla, and Istanbul, which are popular with Russians. The requirement applies not only to the city but also to all settlements in the province. So, the rule applies to Alanya, Kemer, Konyaalti, and other locations popular with foreign nationals that are part of Antalya. These are also Mugla, Marmaris, Bodrum, and Fethiye.
Previously, there were no such requirements for the cost of an apartment or house.
