Turkey is planning to limit real estate purchasing by foreigners

Residents of Istanbul and Antalya are concerned by unrestricted sales of real estate to other nationals. As of July 1, 2022, the list of communities with restrictions on foreign citizens’ residence was extended by 50%. It used to include fewer than 800 districts but now their number increased to 1,169. These are mostly Istanbul neighborhoods popular among tourists. However, restrictions are also imposed in Kestel, Mahmutlar, and Avsallar in Antalya Province. It is no longer possible to apply for a residence permit based on a purchase or a long-term lease of property in these districts.
