45,500 properties in Turkey bought by foreigners

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, foreigners purchased 45,500 homes in Turkey in 2019. In total, there were 1.35 million properties in 2019. The percentage of properties acquired by foreigners increased by 14.7% comparing with the previous year.

The most popular destination for foreign buyers became Istanbul. There were 20,857 homes were bought in this city in 2019. The next top destinations included Antalya, Ankara and Bursa where 8,951, 2,399 and 2,213 houses where bought respectively.

The largest share of foreign buyers is the Iraqis. They acquired 7,596 homes. The top buyers also included Iranians, Russians, Saudis, and Afghans.
