Antalya has experienced the best summer since the coronavirus pandemic

Thanks to the continued inflow of overseas tourists, Turkey's Mediterranean paradise has experienced its greatest summer since the coronavirus pandemic. Most of the foreign visitors were from European nations. The number of foreign tourists to the southern resort town since the beginning of 2022 has reached 8.5 million, almost matching the 9 million who came throughout the entire year of 2021. As a result, Antalya is getting close to the levels of 2019, when 16 million people travelled to the Mediterranean Pearl, which was the best travel year prior to the pandemic's effects on international travel.

European tourists help the resort to recover

Germany and the UK have had a key role in a significant recovery that has resulted in a massive influx of tourists from Europe. Along with these visitors from Europe, Russians also prefer Turkey. "Antalya is enjoying a fresh boom this summer season," said Dr. Erkan Yağcı, Сhairman of the Union of Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators (AKTOB). He claims that from January to the current time, Antalya has displayed 90% to 95% of the forecasts for the peak season of 2019. We can hit the figures of 2019 if this keeps up.

According to official statistics, Turkey welcomed nearly 23 million foreign visitors in total between January and July 2022, an increase of 128% over the previous years. This has contributed to bringing in $37 billion in revenue for the tourism industry, which the Republic of Turkey desperately needs.
