Completion of the second stage of the reconstruction of Ataturk Avenue in Alanya

The second stage of the large-scale reconstruction of Ataturk Avenue, one of the city's main thoroughfares, has been successfully completed in Alanya. The work, which was carried out under the supervision of the local municipality, included the complete replacement of the infrastructure and the laying of new asphalt. Despite the capricious weather – frequent rain and low temperatures – the crews worked around the clock to meet the deadline. This allowed the section to be opened to traffic ahead of schedule, minimising inconvenience to residents and tourists.

The project started in November last year and is divided into six stages. The second stage covered the section from Türkmenbaşı Street to Kale Market. Here, the water supply, electricity, communications, rainwater drainage and street lighting systems were upgraded. The final touch was the laying of hot asphalt, which made the road more comfortable and safer. Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik noted that such improvements will not only increase the city's appeal to holidaymakers, but also prepare the infrastructure for future projects, including the possible introduction of a tram line.

The overall reconstruction plan envisages the completion of all work by May 2026, just in time for the start of the high tourist season. Positive changes are already noticeable: less traffic jams, a modern look for the avenue and improved safety. The third stage, which will begin in the coming days, will affect the next section, but the authorities promise to carry it out with minimal closures.

Alanya residents are satisfied with the pace of work. ‘Finally, our main street is getting a decent look,’ says a local entrepreneur. ‘There used to be constant problems with storm drains here, but now everything is new.’ Experts emphasise that investments in infrastructure will help Alanya strengthen its status as a popular resort on the Mediterranean Sea.
