Beach volleyball stars gather in Alanya: FIVB tournament coming up

Alanya, this sunny corner of the Turkish Mediterranean, is once again preparing to become the centre of world sport. From 10 to 14 June 2026, the International Beach Sports Centre will host the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Challenge, organised by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The event promises to bring together beach volleyball's elite from dozens of countries, turning the golden sands into an arena of exciting duels.

The tournament is part of the Beach Pro Tour series, which is considered the ‘Champions League’ of the sport. Last year, in 2025, Alanya already hosted such a competition and it was a huge success with 112 teams from 29 countries competing for prizes and spectators enjoying the matches from morning until late in the evening. The organisers - FIVB and Volleyball World - noted the high level of preparation, which contributed to the extension of cooperation with the city until 2028. Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özcelik emphasised that such events not only develop sports, but also give a boost to tourism, attracting thousands of visitors.

The International Beach Sports Centre, located opposite the famous beach, is ideally suited for the competitions: there are modern courts, grandstands and all infrastructure for the comfort of athletes and fans. Up to 224 athletes, including world champions and Olympic medallists, are expected to participate in 2026. Matches will start with qualification and culminate in the finals on 14 June. For locals, this is a chance to see live stars like the Swiss or Czech duos that have shone in previous seasons.

Alanya has a rich history in beach volleyball: the first national tournaments were held here back in 1992 and international tournaments a year later. Since then, the city has become a real magnet for enthusiasts. This year's event will be complemented by national and local tournaments, as well as training camps, making Alanya the beach sports capital for the whole season.

For the economy of the region, it is a real gift: increased traffic to hotels, restaurants and shops. The local authorities promise free admission to the matches so that everyone can experience the atmosphere. If you are planning a holiday in Turkey, make a note of the dates - Alanya is calling for a celebration of sport and the sea!
