Data published last week show that about 30 million people visited the republic last year. Among the visitors are returning Turkish citizens permanently residing abroad.
Tourists brought about USD 25,000,000,000 to the economy in 2021, which amounted to an annual growth of 103%. The figures are still far from reaching a record USD 34,500,000,000 in 2019, but government officials express satisfaction with the current figures.
By nationality, the annual growth by 2020 was 120 (5 million people). They are followed by German citizens — 3.1 million people. The top three are closed by Ukrainians — more than 2 million people.
The demand for real estate and the growth of the market remained at the same levels. Consumer demand is growing slowly but steadily. A big role is played by the fall in the value of the Turkish lira.
Travel companies, hotel and restaurant owners have reported positive financial results for the year.
