Alanya to build a new cultural centre: the municipality launches an architecture competition

The Alanya municipality, together with the Chamber of Architects, is launching a national competition to design a new cultural centre. It will be built in the Damlataş (DEMAŞ) district, opposite the Damlataş Kale market. Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik announced the decision at the July city council meeting. The reason is simple: the current hall seats 400 people, and the city has outgrown it.

The competition is national and open to architects from across Türkiye. A jury of prominent Turkish architects will assess the entries, and the authors of the three best designs will receive honorary awards and cash prizes. The municipality will publish the detailed brief after 20 July. This is an ideas competition: the city is looking for a modern architectural solution that will become a new landmark in the centre of Alanya.

In parallel, the city centre is undergoing a coordinated overhaul of its utility networks — electricity, water, sewerage, gas and fibre optics are being laid at the same time, from the Atatürk monument to the highway. This work will start in November 2026 and is due to be completed by May 2027. A new cultural centre and upgraded infrastructure improve quality of life and make Alanya's central neighbourhoods even more appealing to those choosing property here.
